I. Background and Scope of this Document
AtkinsRéalis UK Limited (formerly Atkins Limited) and its fellow UK-based subsidiaries of the SNC-Lavalin Inc. group are committed to paying all suppliers to terms. The standard payment terms in operation are 30 days from date of invoice. None of our suppliers have longer terms.
This commitment has been reinforced by our membership of the Prompt Payment Code, to which the company became a signatory in 2012.
By virtue of size, the following group companies have a statutory duty to report of payment practices and performance on a six-monthly basis, as prescribed by Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy Reporting Guidance:
- AtkinsRéalis UK Limited (formerly Atkins Limited)
- AtkinsRéalis UK International Limited (formerly WS Atkins International Limited).
- AtkinsRéalis PPS Limited (formerly Faithful+Gould Limited).
- AtkinsRéalis Rail & Transit Limited (formerly SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit Limited).
Since the statutory reporting obligation commenced the reports published have demonstrated good progress. In six out of the seven six-month periods ended 30 June 2024 we have met the benchmark of paying at least 95% of supplier invoices within 60 days of invoice receipt date, as set out by the Prompt Payment Code. This includes the most recent period (the six months ended 30th June 2024). However, because our margin in meeting the benchmark has been relatively small, we have maintained this Action Plan and will continue to monitor progress.

Tackling gender inequality and removing barriers for women to succeed in their careers is something that we as a business take seriously – it’s an ongoing focus across the engineering industry and a big part of AtkinsRéalis’ global ED&I programme to make sure that everyone is included and made to feel they belong.
In the past year, we’ve continued the work we started to address the female underrepresentation across our industry and our workforce. We’re doing more than ever to entice the next generation to choose a career in STEM related subjects, our processes and procedures are becoming more robust and flexible, our improved data capture is providing us with business intelligence on diverse characteristics across areas such as recruitment, promotion, and leavers, and we’re offering a growing number of avenues for development and progression.
Engineering a better future for our planet and its people requires a team with exceptional talent and the ability to recognise and reflect the needs of the society they serve, and we’re confident that the foundations we’re laying down now will accelerate progression in the long term and bring sustainable change.

In this report, we share the results of the latest gender pay gap analysis for our WS Atkins Ireland Limited business (trading as AtkinsRéalis).
The safety and wellbeing of our people and those we work with has always been our priority. Following the latest government guidance, we’ve implemented measures to ensure our offices in the UK, as well as project sites that are under our control, are COVID-19 Secure. While the majority of our people are able to work effectively from home and will continue to do so, the latest government guidance has given us the flexibility to allow a small number of our people, where needed, to return to a limited number of workplaces more permanently in order to support essential client project delivery. This is in addition to our Key Workers, who have been delivering essential services outside of their home in support of national critical infrastructure throughout the pandemic.
In every office location, we’ve undertaken a detailed office risk assessment which is published and available to our people via our company intranet. In addition to this, we’ve recorded photographs portraying the control measures we’re taking to prevent the virus from spreading. Before anyone is permitted to enter any of our workplaces, they must first complete a workplace induction (tailored to each location) and a personal risk assessment which must receive business approval.
Our control measures are tailored to suit each workplace to ensure that we identify, eliminate and manage the risk of our offices becoming a mode of transmission. Our measures vary depending on whether the workplace is being accessed on a routine or temporary basis, and include:
- Introducing enhanced cleaning regimes
- Providing gel stations comprising sanitiser, wipes and tissues
- Installing floor markings, barriers and directional signage
- Installing posters to encourage personal hygiene and surface cleaning of touch points
- Stopping our normal agile working practices and allocating fixed desks
- Reducing the number of visitors to our workspaces
- Minimising the need for people to travel on public transport so that this can be maintained for Key Workers.
In addition to these processes and operational procedures, we’re also focused on the mental wellbeing of our employees, ensuring they feel confident to work safely and empowered to raise any concerns which may affect their mental or physical health.
Our risk assessment processes have been carefully managed and audited by our Director of Health & Safety and every one of our offices has been subject to a Health & Safety audit by an expert safety professional.
