As part of a recent survey, we asked respondents across the defence, construction and critical national infrastructure (CNI) sectors for their thoughts on a range of subjects related to digital adoption. One subject on which people had extremely mixed opinions was artificial intelligence (AI).
While many respondents listed AI as a key technology their organisation is looking to adopt in future there was still a great deal of scepticism, and uncertainty about its processes, impacts and benefits. We explore their opinions on the key issues in our latest paper, ‘Artificial Intelligence: understanding its complexity and potential’, with AtkinsRéalis’ Applied Technology Practice Directors, John Batterbee and Anna Lewis offering their insights into the many nuances around AI adoption.
Anna and John discuss how getting support for AI technologies will require that everyone across an organisation recognises the benefits it offers, both to them and the business as a whole – with opportunities for upskilling in both the technical and wider skills that support the technology’s creation. But they caution that, while AI can offer significant benefits to an organisation, it’s not a ‘cure-all’ to be applied to every issue and believed without question.
