Hinkley Point C is the UK's largest infrastructure project.
The new 3.2GW power plant will power six million homes and supply 7% of the UK's electricity. And at its peak, Hinkley Point C will be the largest construction site in Europe.

How we are making the difference
AtkinsRéalis has supported EDF NNB GenCo, a subsidiary created by EDF Energy to build and then operate Hinkley Point C, with the development of the power plant from its very early stages. Our presence played a role in its securing of the first Nuclear Site License to be granted by the UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation for over 20 years.

Today, we are currently in a 10-year construction period. Our Professional Services framework contract with NNB GenCo provisions of a diverse range of engineering and technical services. Our multi-disciplinary expertise allows us to deliver civil, mechanical, electrical, process and nuclear engineering and design, and multidisciplinary design and environmental planning services.
Through our Project & Programme Services we are proud to be offering a full range from project controls and commercial management services including cost management, risk, estimating and scheduling to change control and baseline management.

Why does it matter?
By providing continuous and dispatchable electricity, nuclear power ensures vital stability to electrical grids, allowing them to integrate and accommodate variable energy sources such as solar and wind. As such, nuclear can be a key driver in the shift towards clean renewable energy generation. As well as accelerating the UK’s transition to net zero, the Hinkley Point C project stands to generate many social and economic benefits, including wide-ranging and potentially life-changing employment opportunities.
