Within Diriyah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, AtkinsRéalis was appointed as the Lead Design Consultant for multiple districts across the Diriyah Masterplan. The overall Diriyah masterplan is envisaged as a Sustainable development inline with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambitions. AtkinsRéalis provided strategic design consultancy and advisory to the asset, infrastructure and public realm design teams across five districts to achieve LEED Gold and Mostadam Gold certification for the community assets and building assets.
Diriyah North District- (The Ritz-Carlton Residences project) is awarded Mostadam Gold rating and is under final verification for LEED Gold accreditation.

Sustainability Services Provided
The certification strategy for the Project was structured to achieve high sustainability standards (Gold) under both LEED and Mostadam rating systems. For the residential components—specifically townhouses and villas—the scopes for LEED Homes Gold and Mostadam Residential Gold certifications were initiated. Under the documented Mostadam Residential Gold rating, the 5-bed villas achieve 40% reduction in energy consumption compared to the baseline building (as defined in SBC Codes & ASHRAE 90.2) and 50% saving in indoor water usage compared to the LEED Homes reference baseline.
For the non-residential components of the Project, such as commercial and community facilities, LEED BD+C (Building Design and Construction) and Mostadam Commercial certifications were pursued. The requirements for both LEED and Mostadam were integrated into the design and development processes from the outset. This integration ensured that every aspect of the Project’s planning, design, and construction was aligned with sustainability goals, from selecting materials to ensuring resource efficiency.
