Atkins, a member of SNC-Lavalin Group, has been awarded a five-year framework agreement to provide general and specialist Technical Safety and Human Factors Engineering services to support Shell’s global projects and assets. Work under this agreement will be delivered through and leverage the global capabilities of the company’s teams in the US, UK and Australia.

The scope of work includes technical safety reviews such as HAZOP and HAZID, and safety studies including Quantative Risk Assessments, Escape and Evacuation, ALARP, COMAH, and Safety Case Development and Support; and specialist work around major hazards, consequence modelling and facility siting. Atkins will also deliver technical safety training programme to Shell personnel, and Human Factors Engineering services.

“We look forward to continue building our long-term relationship with Shell and aim to deliver quality services that exceed our client’s expectation,” said Craig Muir, President, Resources, SNC-Lavalin. “This framework agreement drives our new strategic direction and underscores our capabilities across engineering services. We will deploy a range of in-house developed digital tools that help reduce costs and improve efficiency across Shell’s onshore and offshore assets, as well as deliver safety solutions to ensure optimal safety standards to employees and the environment.”

The framework agreement builds on work carried out by Atkins over the last 20 years for Shell, focusing on project and operational support to maintain Shell’s assets to the highest standards of safety, and delivering engineering services to ensure that safety is managed effectively through all stages of an asset lifecycle.
