AtkinsRéalis named as supplier on three lots of UK Ministry of Defence’s Digital and IT Professional Services (DIPS) Framework

Wednesday 03 January 2024

AtkinsRéalis, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, has been named as a supplier on three lots of the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Digital and IT Professional Services (DIPS) Framework.

Driven by the MOD’s Digital Strategy for Defence, the skills and capabilities procured through the DIPS Framework will play a pivotal role in modernising and improving the resilience of the digital services that are essential to the defence of the United Kingdom. DIPS is the primary framework for procuring digital professional services and the essential skills necessary to accelerate digital transformation, including for UK Armed Forces deployed across the world.

Crown Commercial Service (CCS) assisted MOD in the production of the DIPS framework and will become the framework authority upon go live of the framework, with MOD responsible for all customer engagement. The DIPS framework is due to run for four years, until November 2027, and will deliver a range of digital and IT specialists professional services to Defence Digital.

CCS supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2022/23, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £3.8 billion - supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.

DIPS has a potential value of up to £1.2 billion, spread across six lots and 17 suppliers. AtkinsRéalis was appointed as a prime contractor for three lots:

  • Lot 1: Solution, Enterprise and Technical Architecture, Data, Innovation, Technical Assurance and Knowledge & Information Management;
  • Lot 3: Cyber Security, Crypto, Security Operations & Integrated Systems; and
  • Lot 5: Project, Programme & Portfolio Management (P3M).

AtkinsRéalis will also provide services as a subcontract partner for two additional lots:

  • Lot 2: DevApps, UX, Dev Ops, System Design & Applications Support; and
  • Lot 6: Intelligence Solutions.

Core to AtkinsRéalis’ success was the creation of a network of 25 trusted partner companies¹ - from global IT and business consulting providers to small and medium sized enterprises with specialist capabilities - and a core delivery team with the breadth, capacity, flexibility and innovation to meet MOD’s aims.

Dave Clark, AtkinsRéalis Market Director for Aerospace and Defence, said:

“This appointment builds on the close and well-established working relationship we have built with the MOD over the past decade in the delivery of major digital programmes. It is further recognition of our ability to manage and deliver the complex digital change that is critical to the defence sector, in the UK and across the world.

“This framework will ensure that the MOD has access to a breadth of expertise and capability that will be essential to modernise its digital landscape at pace and take early advantage of emerging technologies. Together with our multi-disciplinary partner companies, we will work collaboratively and alongside MOD colleagues to help continue the transformation of its digital and cyber capabilities.”

AtkinsRéalis’ relationship with the MOD stretches back decades, having supported major programmes across the land, maritime, air and joint environments. The design, engineering and project management company has worked on similar MOD frameworks, such as the leading the Design as a Service (DaaS) framework for Defence Digital, in which AtkinsRéalis delivered contracted tasks worth more than £40 million from November 2017 to March 2020. Separately, AtkinsRéalis is one of three key partners in MOD’s Engineering Delivery Partnership (EDP) with its Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) function, which has secured orders worth £1.5 billion over five years.
