MINAS GERAIS, Belo Horizonte, Brazil: July 1, 2024 – AtkinsRéalis, a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, announced today that it is launching “Elas na AtkinsRéalis”, an internship program to promote and encourage the inclusion of women in engineering in Brazil.
“We have some truly exceptional women across AtkinsRéalis globally that enable our team to deliver the most creative and effective solutions representative of the customers we serve,” said Steve Morriss, President, U.S., Latin America, and Minerals & Metals, AtkinsRéalis. “This program backs up our commitment to supporting and empowering women pursuing careers in Engineering.”
AtkinsRéalis is offering paid internship positions to female students currently enrolled in specific higher education courses, a first for the Company in Brazil. Women who are studying various engineering and administrative fields, from the 5th period and higher, can apply for the internships throughout the month of July.
“This purposeful action conforms with our equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives by providing opportunities for women to gain professional Engineering sector experience through a global company,” said Maria de Lourdes Bahia, Vice President, Latin America Minerals & Metals at AtkinsRéalis. “This program also aligns perfectly with our commitment to the Women in Mining movement.”
AtkinsRéalis has provided professional services to the largest Brazilian mining industry companies for more than 30 years. The Company employs approximately 1,200 professionals with offices in Belo Horizonte (MG), Vitória (ES) and Parauapebas (PA).
“86 percent of the students who have interned with us since 2022, have been hired into our workforce,” said Alexsandra Lima, Human Resources Senior Manager. “We are committed to gender inclusion at AtkinsRéalis Brazil. Nearly 42 percent of our local Company leadership and just over 38 percent of our permanent staff are women. Through the Elas na AtkinsRéalis program and others like it, we seek to further enhance our diversity.”
The program’s selection process consists of an online test, interviews and admission exams. If successfully selected, interns will work in AtkinsRéalis’ Belo Horizonte office for one year, with the potential of having the paid internship renewed for an additional year.
Applications for “Elas na AtkinsRéalis” Internship Program must be submitted by July 31st. Visit the application site to apply.
