Wednesday 09 October 2024

A joint venture of RPS – AtkinsRéalis – Long O Donnell has been selected by Uisce Éireann as Client Partner for the Water Supply Project, Eastern and Midlands Region.

RPS – AtkinsRéalis – Long O Donnell is an experienced team of Irish and international leaders in project management, engineering design, environmental services, procurement and construction management. The Client Partner was selected following a competitive public procurement process.

The Water Supply Project is one of the largest and most important infrastructure projects in the history of the state. Population growth, economic growth and climate change means 34% more water will be needed in the Eastern and Midlands Region by 2044. The delivery of the Water Supply Project is critical to sustainable economic growth, enabling housing delivery and attracting investment to support Ireland’s growing population.

The project will bring water from the lower River Shannon at Parteen Basin in Co. Tipperary via a 172km pipeline to Peamount in Dublin with the capacity for treated water offtakes along the route in Tipperary, Offaly and Westmeath. It will ensure a secure and sustainable water supply for up to 50% of the population.
