EDAROTH secures BOPAS certification with unique 100-year durability status

EDAROTH, the social and affordable housing developer wholly owned by AtkinsRéalis, has secured full Build Offsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS) accreditation - including a landmark 100-year assessment for both its house and apartment systems.

This accreditation means EDAROTH is the only provider on the BOPAS Register with housing and apartment products independently validated for a century long service life, setting a new benchmark for quality, resilience and investor confidence in the UK housing sector.

BOPAS is widely recognised as the leading assurance framework for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), developed with the Council of Mortgage Lenders to provide long-term confidence to lenders, developers, insurers, housing associations and residents. Traditionally built around a 60 year benchmark, BOPAS has expanded its scope to include a 100-year assessment for high performing systems in a category where EDAROTH now stands alone.

The 100-year accreditation reinforces the robustness of EDAROTH’s hybrid offsite system, comprising precision engineered components which are manufactured under controlled conditions in its factory in Bradford, then transported and assembled on-site ensuring consistent high quality, reduced construction risk and optimal building performance.

In its feedback, BOPAS described EDAROTH’s performance in the assessment as ‘outstanding’, highlighting its ‘robust, fully embedded processes and procedures’ and the ‘strength, maturity and consistency’ of its operational approach which further validates the organisation’s engineering capability and commitment to quality.

For investors and long-term asset owners including housing associations and local authorities, the accreditation provides an unprecedented level of durability assurance. A verified 100 year lifespan significantly de-risks long-term maintenance planning, strengthens lifecycle cost forecasting, and enhances the asset value for institutional investment.

With EDAROTH homes also designed to meet and exceed Future Homes Standards, as well as achieving net zero carbon operational energy performance, the accreditation reinforces its credentials as a future-ready investment proposition.

This milestone marks the culmination of a five year journey, during which EDAROTH worked closely with LRQA to assess and validate its hybrid MMC system. The final step came in December with EDAROTH passing the BOPAS Full Implementation Audit covering project management of design, manufacture and construction.
